If you are a sporty, active type that likes to get out and do a bit of physical exercise while on holiday, then head over to Menorca.

Villas that are situated throughout the island provide the perfect locations for you to explore the interior and coastlines by bicycle or on foot, depending on how far you want to go and how active you are feeling.

If you like to see the world whiz by from the saddle of a bike, it’s more than easy to rent one on Menorca. Villas near the north of the island will enable you to pick up the Camis de Cavalls, which is a Medieval path that is well sign posted and follows the coast for the whole perimeter of the island. As you cut across the island you can ride through the “tancas”, or small fields, which are usually flat and divided by dry stone walls which add extra charm. While you can hire a guide if you like, the bike paths and roads in Menorca are so well developed that you will be ok setting out with just a guide book and a bottle of water.

Or, if cycling seems to be a bit too strenuous for your tastes, but you still want to see the best bits of Menorca, villas anywhere on the island make a great base – you can simply walk out your door and head for one of the many trails. Two of the most popular walks are the paths that take you from Punta Nati and Cala Morell, along the coast, and the one that leads from Et Alocs, across the flats to the foot of Mount Mala, where you can continue upwards if you feel up to the challenge.
